2021 Subaru Crosstrek vs 2021 Subaru Forester

Serving Fairfax, VA

When the Subaru Crosstrek was introduced in 2013, this subcompact crossover SUV took its place directly below the popular Forester lineup. The Forester is a compact crossover that has been available since 1997. Many of our customers at Farrish Subaru are drawn to the functionality and overall quality of our models. Still, they may struggle to narrow down the options to a specific model. Learning more about the many differences between the Crosstrek and the Forester can help you decide which model is a great fit for your lifestyle.

Performance

Both of these models come with the functionality of symmetrical all-wheel drive as a standard feature. The Crosstrek’s powertrains are a Boxer 2.0-liter, 152-horsepower engine, and a Boxer 2.5-liter, 182-horsepower engine. A hybrid variant of the 2.0-liter engine is also an option, and it produces 148 net horsepower. The 2021 Forester, on the other hand, carries the Boxer 2.5-liter, 182-horsepower engine as standard equipment in all five of its trims.

Appearance

The Crosstrek is shorter than the Forester in terms of length and height. Both vehicles have 8.7 inches of functional ground clearance along with body molding, LED lights, at least 17-inch wheels, a liftgate spoiler, and a power liftgate. The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek is undeniably sporty with a swooping roof and a strong angle through the hood. The stretched headlights are separated from the grille, and these headlights angle prominently toward the front fenders. The 2021 Forester, on the other hand, has flatter surfaces over the roof and hood. The headlights also angle toward the front fenders, but they have a unique shape for differentiation.

Features

These are two-row crossover SUVs that carry many of the same premium features. However, the specific features available in each comparable trim level vary. Some of the available items in both models are a 6.5-inch to an 8-inch display screen, USB ports, a Harman Kardon sound system, EyeSight safety technologies, a dual-zone climate management system, and other equipment.
