Subaru Electric FAQs

With the release of the 2023 Solterra, the Subaru lineup has been electrified. Unlike the gas-powered Subaru models that use a combustion engine, the all-electric Solterra uses a battery-powered motor. Many of our customers at Farrish Subaru are new to the EV experience. We want to help you get more familiar with electric vehicles by answering a few frequently asked questions.
What are the benefits of owning a Subaru electric vehicle?
EVs are great for the environment because they do not rely on fossil fuels and have no harmful emissions. Because they do not use gas, you can avoid trips to the gas station and eliminate this expense from your life. Plus, EVs operate quietly, deliver instant torque and have fewer maintenance needs.
How do you charge the 2023 Solterra at home?
At Farrish Subaru, we recommend that you charge your Solterra’s battery nightly in the same way you charge your smartphone. You can use a 120-volt or 240-volt charger. The lower-level charger comes with your purchase, and the 240-volt charger is available at an additional cost and requires professional installation.
How do you charge the 2023 Solterra away from home?
The Solterra has a 220-mile range, so an overnight charge may be all that is needed most of the time. However, if you need to charge the Solterra away from home, you can choose from more than 38,000 public charging stations with 240-volt charging capabilities. With a DC fast charger, you can get up to an 80-percent charge in less than an hour.
Are there incentives to buy an EV?
The federal government offers a tax incentive of $7,500. Other tax credits and financial incentives may be offered in some local areas and select employers.
