Subaru Electric FAQs

Subaru Solterra EV Charging

With the introduction of the Solterra, Subaru has officially entered the electric vehicle (EV) market. Unlike the traditional gas-powered Subaru models that use combustion engines, the all-electric Solterra is powered by a battery-operated motor. At Farrish Subaru, we understand that many of our customers are new to the EV experience. We've answered some frequently asked questions to help you get acquainted with electric vehicles.

What are the benefits of owning a Subaru electric vehicle?

Electric vehicles (EVs) offer numerous benefits, especially for the environment. They produce no harmful emissions since they don't rely on fossil fuels. This means you can avoid trips to the gas station, eliminating fuel costs from your budget. Additionally, EVs operate quietly, deliver instant torque, and generally require less maintenance.

How do you charge the Subaru Solterra at home?

Charging your Solterra at home is straightforward. We recommend charging it overnight, similar to how you charge your smartphone. The Solterra can be charged using either a 120-volt or a 240-volt charger. The 120-volt charger is included with your purchase, while the 240-volt charger, which requires professional installation, is available for an additional cost.

How do you charge the Subaru Solterra away from home?

The Solterra boasts a range of 220 miles on a full charge, so overnight charging at home is often sufficient. However, when you need to charge on the go, you can access over 38,000 public charging stations equipped with 240-volt chargers. You can achieve up to an 80% charge in less than an hour using a DC fast charger.

Are there incentives to buy an EV?

Yes, there are incentives available for EV buyers. The federal government offers a $7,500 tax incentive. Additionally, some local areas and select employers may provide other tax credits and financial incentives.
