What's New for the 2022 Subaru Outback?
Subaru released the sixth generation of its Outback station wagon in 2020. At the time, the Outback received beautiful style updates as well as a few changes to its features and mechanical gear. Now that your attention is centered on the 2022 Outback, you may be eager to learn about Subaru's updates to the Outback’s most recent version. You will find only one major change between the 2021 and 2022 versions of the Outback. In 2022, the Outback Wilderness trim level is all-new. While all Outback trim levels have all-wheel drive, the Wilderness takes this to a new level with the addition of waterproof upholstery, a front skid plate, more ground clearance, and an upgraded roof rack that can hold up to 700 pounds. The Wilderness trim level also has a more powerful engine, all-terrain tires, black and copper accents, and a modernized design across the front and rear bumpers.
The base engine in most of the 2022 Outback’s trim levels is a four-cylinder, 2.5-liter engine. It produces 182 horsepower and is combined with a continuously variable transmission. The Wilderness and the Onyx Edition XT trim levels have a 260-horsepower, turbo 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine. In these trim levels, an upgraded all-wheel-drive system is standard, and it has a unique low-ratio setting.
The Outback’s standard features across all trims include LED headlights, hill descent control, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a pair of 7-inch display screens or a single 11.6-inch screen, adaptive cruise control, forward collision mitigation, auto climate control, auto high beams, and lane keeping assist. The Outback’s mid-range trim levels have a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a blind-spot monitor, heated and power-folding side mirrors, heated front seats, a dual-zone climate control system, LED foglights, an integrated navigation system, keyless entry, a hands-free liftgate, and a push-button starter. The Outback’s highest trim levels add driver’s memory functions, a sunroof, a driver attention monitor, heated rear seats, leather material, and more.
