2021 Subaru Forester vs 2021 Subaru Ascent

Serving Fairfax, VA

The Ascent debuted in 2019 as Subaru’s only three-row crossover SUV. This midsize crossover took a place above the Forester in the lineup. Now that you are getting serious about your next crossover SUV purchase, your full attention has turned to the exciting possibilities in the Subaru line. While the Forester and the Ascent both have thoughtful similarities, their differences are intriguing. Our Farrish Subaru team will help you to get more familiar with all that these models deliver behind the wheel.

Performance

The 2021 Subaru Forester and the 2021 Subaru Ascent are both engineered to deliver dependability and functionality on the road. All of their trim levels have symmetrical all-wheel drive. The Forester’s five trim levels have a four-cylinder, 2.5-liter Boxer, 182-horsepower gas engine. The Ascent’s four trim levels also have the same engine. This is a four-cylinder, turbo 2.4-liter Boxer, 260-horsepower gas engine.

Appearance

The Forester and the Ascent have the same amount of ground clearance, but the Ascent stands taller. It is also wider and longer to accommodate its three-row interior. Both the 2021 Forester and the 2021 Ascent have long and relatively flat surfaces throughout their profiles. However, the Ascent has modest accent lines through the hood, larger headlights, and a larger grille. Some of their common exterior traits shared by the Forester and the Ascent are a power liftgate, heated side mirrors, and foglamps.

Features

The primary differences that you will notice inside these models are related to the Ascent’s third row of seats. For example, it has two folding rows and a tri-zone auto climate control system. Both of these crossover SUVs are available with up to an 8-inch multimedia display screen, a navigation system, USB ports, a standard or premium Harman Kardon audio system, wireless connectivity, EyeSight safety features, and more.
