2021 Subaru Outback vs 2020 Subaru Outback

Serving Fairfax, VA

The 2020 Subaru Outback reflects stunning updates with the introduction of this wagon’s sixth generation. Subaru has continued to enhance the Outback with several thoughtful updates to the 2021 version. The trim lineups for 2020 and 2021 Outback carry the same seven options, and all of the improvements that are in the 2021 Outback are showcased across all seven of these trim levels.

The same two powertrains are available in the 2020 and 2021 Outback wagons. The 2.5-liter Boxer engine that generates 182 horsepower is loaded into the first four trim levels. The 2.4-liter turbo Boxer engine in the top three trim levels delivers 260 horsepower. For both model years, the Subaru Outback has vehicle dynamics, hill descent control, symmetrical all-wheel drive, and other equipment.

The Outback’s modern styling is unchanged, stepping into the 2021 model year. There are several trim-level differences across 2020 and 2021, including the black 18-inch wheels and a power moonroof available on select trims. The adaptive LED headlights are a new feature in all trims going into the 2021 model year. All trims for 2020 and 2021 have raised roof rails, almost 9 inches of ground clearance, fog lights, and other equipment.

Two features have been added to the 2021 Outback. Across all trims, these new features are a rear seat occupant reminder and a belt reminder for all seat positions. Equipment that you can appreciate in the 2020 and 2021 Outback includes adaptive cruise control, HomeLink, a StarLink system with up to an 11.6-inch screen, a dual-zone climate management system, and other desirable features.
