Regardless of the SUV model and trim selected, you will be delighted by your new Subaru’s capabilities. All trims for the 2023 Ascent and the 2023 Outback are equipped with all-wheel drive. The engine found in most of the Outback’s trims is a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder unit with a continuously variable automatic transmission. It delivers 182 horsepower. If you opt for the Outback Onyx Edition, your SUV will benefit from 260 horsepower from its four-cylinder, turbo 2.4-liter system. This same engine is standard across all 2023 Ascent’s trim levels.

Appearance

Both of these Subaru SUVs show off their confident, powerful sides through their exterior styling. On the Outback, you can appreciate a small grille, triangular headlights, and a tall, molded bumper. Thick molding also flows over the door panels and wheel wells. Raised roof rails, crossbars, and high ground clearance are defining features on both models. The Ascent’s look shows taller, wider LED headlights, thick side molding, and a prominent grille. This model has a larger grille and a thin bumper. The headlights are larger and accented by an innovative LED light ribbon.

Features

With many shared cabin and safety features between the 2023 Ascent and the 2023 Outback, you will enjoy a great ride in both models. Their common features are forward collision mitigation, lane keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control, a push-button ignition, a hands-free liftgate, a dual-zone climate control system, wireless connections for the smart device apps, and heated front seats. If you opt for the Ascent, your SUV may also have three rows, heated second-row seats, a steering assist, a three-zone climate control system, a larger central display screen, and other gear.
