2023 Subaru Outback Wilderness vs 2023 Subaru Forester Wilderness
Serving Fairfax, VA
Fairfax-area drivers seeking rugged capabilities in their next vehicle often turn to the Subaru lineup. The compact Forester and the versatile Outback are designed to support an active lifestyle, and they offer a Wilderness trim level with off-road-ready features. But how do these Wilderness trims compare?
Performance
The 2023 Outback Wilderness boasts a 260-horsepower, turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a continuously variable transmission. It also features a lifted suspension, a front skid plate, and an enhanced all-wheel drive system. In contrast, the Forester Wilderness has an 182-horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, a CVT, and all-wheel drive. It shares the front skid plate and offers higher ground clearance.
Appearance
The Outback's exterior, across all trims, showcases a distinctive black front bumper and a compact grille. The black grille is relatively small and is complemented by sharp, angular LED headlights. The vehicle's design emphasizes the forward stance with thick molding that runs across the wheel wells and the lower section of the car. The Outback Wilderness enhances this with upgraded roof rails, LED foglights, a windshield wiper de-icer, power-folding and heated side mirrors, tinted windows, copper trim accents, upgraded bumpers, and 17-inch wheels with all-terrain tires. The Forester Wilderness includes these exterior features and adds an anti-glare hood.
Features
The Outback Wilderness comes well-equipped with features such as simulated leather and water-repellent upholstery, a blind-spot monitor, evasive steering assist, rear cross-traffic detection, heated front seats, an 11.6-inch central display screen, wireless smart device connectivity, a leather-covered steering wheel, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking with a forward collision alert, lane-keeping assist, and more. The Forester Wilderness shares many features but distinguishes itself with an 8-inch touchscreen display and a panoramic sunroof.
