2025 Subaru Ascent vs 2024 Subaru Ascent

Serving Fairfax, VA

Subaru introduced the midsize Ascent crossover SUV in 2019 to the delight of car shoppers. This three-row model can accommodate up to eight passengers, making it ideal for both work and play. For 2024 and 2025, the Subaru Ascent remains a first-generation model, but with some notable updates in 2025, there are important differences between the two model years.

Performance

Both the 2024 and 2025 Subaru Ascent come with all-wheel drive across all trim levels. However, the entry-level trim in 2025 is now the Premium, as Subaru has discontinued the Base trim for 2024. Two new trims have been added for 2025: the Bronze Edition and Onyx Edition Touring. Both model years share the same exclusive engine — a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine producing 260 horsepower paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). All-wheel drive remains standard for every trim.

Appearance

The 2025 Subaru Ascent introduces the new Bronze Edition trim, which adds bronze trim, badging, and 20-inch alloy wheels to the exterior design. Meanwhile, the Onyx Edition features a black roof spoiler, black grille, 20-inch alloy wheels, and black accents. Aside from these additions, the Ascent's exterior design remains unchanged. The spacious SUV showcases long, slightly angled surfaces, a thin band of lower-body molding, and a deep, horizontal accent running along the top of the door panels. The front end is defined by a tall grille with horizontal crossbars, while dual-element LED headlights add a modern touch.

Features

The Subaru Ascent is well-equipped across all trim levels. Lower trims come with a six-speaker sound system, cloth seats, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an 11.6-inch infotainment system, a three-zone automatic climate control system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, trailer sway damping, a blind-spot warning system, adaptive cruise control, forward collision mitigation, and more. Higher trims add luxury features such as a panoramic sunroof, push-button start, water-repellent synthetic leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, second-row sunshades, an intercom system, and a 360-degree surround-view camera.
